    Raytheon Polar Services provides logistics support for the U.S. Antarctic Program – including the construction of a new polar station – to keep research laboratories, vessels and airfields humming in the coldest, windiest and loneliest place on earth.
    From the first sighting of Antarctica in 1821 by Nathaniel Palmer, “the Ice” has become known as the coldest place on earth, with a mean temperature of 70 below zero. It was designated a continent in 1841, and by the early 1900s, the explorations of Roald Amundsen and Robert Falcon Scott, and the fabled stories of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his band of sailors aboard The Endurance, had all contributed to the lore of this vast,frozen wasteland......
